When you call Ext. 77000, your comments will be recorded and staffed through the responsible agency for action. It is requested that you give your supervisor and chain of command the opportunity to work with you in answering questions and solving problems before calling Action Line. This will help Action Line to better serve the purpose ' ' for which it is intended. MAJ. GEN. CHARLES McCAUSLAND Commander, Ogden ALC Base signs examined soon Every day we have truck drivers coming into Bldg. 849 seeking directions on how to get to shipping or receiving. Would it be possible to provide larger signs to direct incoming trucks so they can find these areas without so much difficulty? ' The Base Civil Engineer is currently reviewing all signs on base in an effort to conform with Air Force policy as outlined in AFR 88-4Sign Standards, and the Hill AFB Architectural Environmental Standards program: The purpose of these standards is to provide guidance for the development of a viable base signage system. Concerning your specific problem near Bldg. 849, the Base Civil Engineer has determined the directional signs for Bldg. 849 are inadequate and has taken action to install new standard signs in appropriate locations which should resolve this problem. At Hill AFB, we have determined that chlorine concentration, at the point of injection, must be maintained at approximately two parts per million (ppm) to an adequate disinfectant residual at distant points in the distribution system. Although a chlorine odor may be noticeable at this concentration, rest assured that the water is safe to drink. If there is no chlorine residual present, the potential for waterborne disease increases dramatically. To summarize, let me that the base water supply is aggressively monitored by both Civil Engineering and Bioenvironmental Engineering, and is inspected and approved by the Utah State Health Department to ensure the safety of all base water consumers. . Also, would you please explain what the base policy is concerning the use of annual leave? base policy or AThere'is notheestablished law stipulating the necessity of a minimum annual leave balance. The provisions which do actually govern the use of annual leave and which should be used as guidelines to set policy are as follows: Leave must be properly scheduled, as outlined in the Master Labor Agreement, Article 23, and is subject to supervisor's approval before being used. Supervisors have the right to cancel previously scheduled annual leave as work load necessitates, or when unscheduled leave is in conflict with another employee's scheduled leave. If an employee's appointment is established for 90 days or more, annual leave can be used immediately. This also includes, with supervisory approval, annual leave which would accrue . during the leave year. Annual leave in excess of 30 days (maximum accumulation for most employees) cannot be carried over from one leave year to the next. Excess leave not used by the end of the leave year will be lost unless extenuating circum- QI Civil Engineering maintains weekly surveillance of the base water supply, which includes a check of chlorine residual. The Office Ticket and Tour has attempted several times in the past to get authority to sell rock and roll concert tickets. Unfortunately, these tickets are sold through Datatix outlets only and our ticket operation has not been able to A stances allow restoration. An employee's annual leave balance should never be an affecting factor on performance appraisals; nor should there be any conflict with base policy since there is no regulatory provision covering a minimum balance.
