She was born October 11, 1941, in Downey, California, to Howard and Esther Peterson Swanson. Wanda worked as a computer com-puter data entry specialist for several companies in Southern California while raising her four children. After retirement, she and her mother moved to American Fork in 1996 where she enjoyed planting and tending gardens and flower beds, cooking meals for the family; and enjoying the association of friends and family in the neighborhood and at the Presbyterian Church where she was a Nelda Carter Nelda Jean Brooks Carter, 71, passed away at the Utah Valley Hospital, April 27, 2001, due to of leukemia. She was born November 12, 1929, to James Albert and Sarah Jane Kinder Brooks in Lehi, Utah. She married Archie Glendon Carter July 11, 1947, in Elko, Nevada. Glen died January 28, 1993. Nelda then was sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple in January of 1994. Nelda remarried Jack Hale on September 25, 1999, in Lehi, Utah. Nelda was educated at Lehi High School. She served at different adoption agencies as a volunteer worker. She also servied on the CIA (Civic Improvement Association) and was a member of the Lehi Long Horn Riding Club. Nelda lived in Lehi for all her married life. Her family was her greatest joy. She enjoyed dancing, supporting the Grizzly Hockey team, the Jazz, going on family vacations, making her yard look nice, and most of all spending quality time with her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had several callings in most of the faithful member. Wanda also enjoyed decorating and hosting host-ing holiday parties where family would come from all over to celebrate each joyous event. She is survived by her mother, Esther Swansea, American Fork; 3 daughters, Theresa (Ed) Armstrong, American Fork; CariColtran, Long Beach, CA; Stacy (Tink) Gibson; Long Beach, CA; 1 son, Joe (Carman) Adams, Sherman Oaks, CA; 9 grandchildren; grand-children; and a brother, Don (Lynn) Swanson, Newbury Park, CA. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 75 North 100 East, American Fork; where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Long Beach, CA. church organizations. She is survived by her husband, hus-band, Jack; sisters, Vanda Jacobs, Lehi; and Hazel Lloyd, American Fork; children, chil-dren, Janie Elton, Patsy Barnes, Clint Carter, Wyatt Carter, Tami Davis, all of Lehi; 3 step-children, Brent Hale, Lake Wood, CO.; LaRinda Hale, Salt Lake City; Bobby Hale, Idaho Falls, ID.; 4 adopted children, Jenny Hulley, Australia; Liz Rowley, Taiwan; Joe Carter, Virginia; Allison (Gee) Turner, Lehi; foster children, Elizabeth Jaynes, Lehi; Vong Svay, Seattle, WA.; Vee Svay, Long Beach, CA.; 35 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many dear friends who loved her like a sister and a mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her daughter, Abby Rae; her parents; her grandson, Shane Elton; brothers, Lynn, Leroy, Glen, and Albert Brooks; sisters, sis-ters, Nita Brown, Rebena Green. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2001, at 12:00 noon at the Lehi West Stake Center, 1920 N. 500 W, Lehi. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Saturday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery next to the love of her life. Muriel Barbera Muriel Lois Burton Barbera, 79, of Schenectady, N.Y., returned to ner Heavenly Father on Thursday, April 12. Muriel lived a life of service and had a great love for friends and family. She worked for over 20 years at West Covina Hospital in imstm, m sfo California. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Holland, Payson; and by her grandchildren, grand-children, Gary Olson, Spokane, Wash.; Darren Olson, Toledo, Ohio; Leah Mitchell, Kearns; and Christine Hayes, Lehi. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren. Services were held for Muriel at Oakdale Memorial Cemetery in Glendora, Calif, on April 16. She will be greatly missed. Mina R. Pajela, 54, of Pleasant Grove passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001. She was born June 25, 1946 in Cabanatuan City, Philippines to Flaviano V. and Miguela Enriquez Rodriguez. She married Rudy Pajela, they were later divorced. Mina grew up in the Philippines and attended schools there. She moved to Los Angeles in 1975 and later to Utah in 1993 to be nearer to fellow members of the LDS Church and pursue business interests in the Utah County area. Her love was the Gospel and spent many hours of her week working in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and at the MTC. She will be remembered for having made cakes for family weddings and other celebrations. She worked as a CPA while living in Los Angeles and was controller and eventually even-tually Vice President of Finance for Braemar Homes in Thousand Oaks, California. Currently, she was active in managing Mira Vista Care Center in American Fork. She is survived by her daughter Casilla Pajela of Stateline, Nevada; her mother moth-er Miguela Rodriguez of Cabanatuan City, Philippines; her three sisters and her four brothers. She was preceded in death by her father, Flaviano in 1985. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 1, 2001 in the North Field Third Ward Chapel, Pleasant Grove. Interment will be in the Captain Pepe Memorial Cemetery in Cabanatuan City, Philippines at a later date. Ted Laursen Warnick Ted Laursen Warnick, 53, died May 1, 2001, at his home in Lehi, after a valiant bout with cancer. He was born January 12, 1948, in American Fork, to David Owen and Virginia Laursen Warnick. He married Debra Lynn Penrod December 6, 1966, in Provo. Ted loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, riding ATV's; and loved spending time with his family. fam-ily. He was a craftsman in wood. He worked for Utah Power & Light for 34 years; currently as a Substation Foreman. He is survived by his wife Debra, Lehi; 4 children, 2 sons & 2 daughters; Sheila (Greg) Powell, Highland; Angie (Alan) Zimmerman, Lehi; Chad (Shawna) Warnick, Orem; Cole B. Warnick, Lehi; 12 grandchil dren; and 2 brothers, Leo & Kent Warnick. He was preceded preced-ed in death by his parents; par-ents; a twin brother, Tom; a sister Christine; and a grandson. A special thanks to Chris, Marty, and Mike at the U of U Hospital for their excellent excel-lent care.
