She is a member of the Pleasant Grove 1st Ward. For her service projects, she made a missionary scrapbook, also a movie of pictures growing up, and a movie of all her fishing and Ba-Ja pictures. She also made a value scrapbook with quotes. She loves fishing, fish-ing, cruising her Ba-Ja, camping, playing basketball, basket-ball, working on scrapbooks and writing to missionaries. Desiree Homer Mae Wright turns 80 tlyir-the tlyir-the lad I the pu - An open house honoring Mae Wright on her 80th birthday will be held Saturday, May 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove 6th Ward, 520 N. 400 East. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate with her on that day. She requests no gifts, please. Mae was born to Charles David and Alice Jane Thacker on May 4, 1921, in Charleston, Utah. She is the eighth of 12 children. She attended school in Wasatch County and graduated gradu-ated from Lincoln High School in Orem in 1939. She married William A. (Bill) Wright on March 22, 1941. Their children are Owen and Karen Wright, Pleasant Grove; Bill N. and Marilyn Wright, Fillmore, Karl J. and Paula Wright, Vernal; and Mollie and Rick Blackwell, Circleville. She has 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Bill, passed away in 1997. Mae owned and operated a beauty salon in her home for 12 years and was a sales representative for Ui lx dJI i 1 Mae Wright Paramount Beauty Supply for 13 years. She served on the Tri City Golf Committee for seven years. She has lived in Pleasant Grove for the past 46 years. Since retirement she has kept herself busy playing golf, playing bridge with the senior ladies, and gardening, garden-ing, especially her roses. She enjoys attending the temple. She has helped to compile and have printed three family history books on her ancestors. Leonard and Jean Shoell of Pleasant Grove are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their son, Nathan, to Emily Wilkins, daughter of Donna Wilkins of West Jordan and Gary and Linda Wilkins of Salt Lake City. The couple will exchange vows in the Mount Timpanogos LDS Temple on May 3. The bride-to-be is a graduate grad-uate of West Jordan High School and LDS Seminary. She is attending Utah Valley State College. The prospective groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. He served in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma LDS Mission. He is also attending attend-ing Utah Valley State Jennie Baxter celebrates 100th birthday Jennie Andersen Baxter turned 100 years old on April 30. She was born April 30, 1901, to Jens N. and Diantha Peterson Anderson, on the Provo Bench (Orem), where she lived most of her life. She attended schools in Orem, graduated from BYU with a degree in elementary education, and taught school in the Alpine School District until her marriage to Elwood M. Baxter on Aug. 10, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Before he passed away, they traveled trav-eled extensively, which she remembers fondly. Gardening has always been her hobby, and while she was able, maintained a beautiful old-fashioned garden. gar-den. She does all kinds of handiwork, especially crocheting cro-cheting and knitting. She has spent much time making mak-ing quilts for family members. mem-bers. She has made many baby clothes and quilts for Emily Wilkins Nathan Shoell College. Blessed with a keen mind, she has been an avid reader all her life. She is a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and crochets cro-chets Christmas ornaments, orna-ments, doilies and afghans for the other residents of the Beehive Home where she lives. She has three step-children, two nephews and a niece, all living in the local area. Orchesis Dance Co. to perform at PG High School The Pleasant Grove High School Orchesis Dance Company will present a concert this week entitled "Walk the Walk." The performances will be this Thursday and Friday evenings beginning begin-ning at 7 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School auditorium.
