March, 2000 BY ROMNEY STEWART Intermountain Health Care Home Care celebrated its Grand Opening on Tuesday, as Intermountain Inter-mountain Health Care has recently re-cently been named the top integrated inte-grated health care network in the nation, according to a recent national na-tional study. The study was conducted by 3MG Group, a Chicago-based health information company, and examined 532 health systems iround the nation. The ranking analyzed each system based on hospital utilization, financial stability, sta-bility, services and access, physi-:ians, physi-:ians, technology integration and utpatient utilization. "This ranking is a tribute to our dedicated and talented employees em-ployees and physicians," said IHC President William Nelson. "It's also validation of how doctors, hospitals and health plans working work-ing together is benefiting our communities." In 1982, an extension of IHC called IHC Home Care was formed. IHC Home Care was founded in an effort to lower hospital hos-pital costs and meet the needs of patients in their own homes. The home care services combined with the in-house facility services at the hospitals provide patients with a complete continuum of care. IHC Home Care primarily serves patients with specific needs. Some of the services ren-" dered include: Skilled Nursing, which includes in-cludes Surgical Recovery; Venipuncture; Veni-puncture; Catheter Care; Diabetes Diabe-tes Management; Education; Mediation Instruction & Monitoring Moni-toring and Wound Care. Rehabilitation Services, including includ-ing Physical Therapy; Occupational Occupa-tional Therapy and Speech Therapy. Social Services, which include Strengthening Coping Abilities; Locating Community Resources; Finance, Housing & Caregiver Issues; and Pain Control Alternatives. Alterna-tives. Miscellaneous Services, such as Hospice; Pediatric Services; Home Medical Equipment & Supplies; Sup-plies; Nutritional Counseling and Diabetic Counseling. Registrations Being Accepted for 5th Annual Summit Challenge Utah Valley's corporate games will begin on May 2, running until un-til June 3. Teams and individuals individu-als can compete in 15 different sports. New events added this year include indoor sport climbing, climb-ing, team fishing, archery, miniature min-iature golf and mountain biking. Other events planned for this year include: a 5K run, bowling, volleyball, golf, 3-on-3 basketball, pistol shoot, racquetball, softball, 5K heart walk, and the executive challenge. "The Summit Challenge is a High blood pressure and kidney disease are closely related. It accounts for more than 25 percent of the new cases of kidney failure each year, and is second only to diabetes as the leading cause ofESRD (end stage renal disease) -which requires treatment with an artificial kidney machine (dialysis) or kidney transplantation to " sustain life, fun way for businesses to promote physical fitness and better health. This year a family division will be offered, allowing participants to bring their families to several of the events. A Healthy Family Award will be given to the most active family in the games. Other prizes to be given away include overnight stays at hotels, gift certificates to restaurants and a wide variety of other awards. Free food will also be provided pro-vided at each event. This year's sponsors include IHC Health Plans, The Daily Herald, The ProvoOrem Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce, Park's Sportsman, Sports-man, Jake's High Country Archery, Ar-chery, Range Masters, Trafalga, Regal Lanes and Extreme Competition.
