Baird arrives to complete linguist course Army National Guard Pvt. Amy R. Baird has arrived at the Defense Language Institute, Foreign For-eign Language Center at the Presidio of Monterey, Monterey, California, to complete a cryptologic linguist specialist course in the Russian language. The course is designed to provide pro-vide knowledge and skills necessary neces-sary to perform at the apprentice level in speaking in translating a foreign language. The students are trained, sustained, sus-tained, and evaluated in foreign language skills under the guidelines guide-lines of the Defense Foreign Language Lan-guage Program, which provides the Department of Defense and other Federal agencies with linguists lin-guists fully capable of supporting U.S. national interests worldwide. Baird is assigned to Bravo Company, Com-pany, 229th Military Intelligence Battalion. The private is the daughter of Lonnie and Julie Baird of Orem.
