The Utah Department of Commerce's Division of Consumer Con-sumer Protection is issuing a warning to consumers against fraudulent charitable organizations organiza-tions and cautioning consumers to investigate charities before they donate. "This is a time of year when we become very aware of those less fortunate than ourselves," said Doug Borba, executive director of the Utah Department of Commerce. "Unfortunately, the operators of bogus charities know this and become very active ac-tive this time of year in an effort , to prey on the generosities of the season. Consumers need to be cautious and take steps to make sure their holiday contribution goes to a worthwhile organization." organiza-tion." The accreditation team inspected in-spected test banks and skill tests, reviewed policies and operating procedures, and observed ob-served written and practical tests to see the system in action. "The accreditation came as a result of several months of hard work by the certification 6taff, coordinators, and secretary. However, the work does not end here, the certification office is currently working hard to add other levels to the list of accreditation ac-creditation such as fire instructor instruc-tor I and fire inspector I," said Alan Joos, certification coordinator. coor-dinator. By achieving this recognition, recogni-tion, the firefighters within the state of Utah now receive national na-tional and international recognition recogni-tion for their firefighting skills. Also, the accredited levels may now be accepted by other participating par-ticipating states and countries.
