Group begins its third decade in Park City area by Bruce Lewis OF THE RECORD STAFF The Park City Board of Realtors marked its 20th anniversary year at its annual party Friday evening. The event was held at Deer Valley Resort's Silver Lake Lodge and was attended attend-ed by more than 100. The Realtors group announced a number of awards. Rookie of the Year Dave Walbeck of Coldwell Banker Premier-Real Estate was announced as 2000 Rookie of the Year. Walbeck joined the Board in 2000. This award is received by a I Homeowners Dave Walbeck Association. Walbeck and his wife Maggie made Utah their primary prima-ry residence in December 1999. Prior to making the move to Utah, Walbeck was president and CEO of The DOW Group, a nationally recognized Delta, pilots called back for mediation meeting The union representing the 9,800 pilots at Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE: DAL) said the National Mediation Board, which has been asked by Delta and the union to make an offer of arbitration, has scheduled sched-uled a mediation session for tomorrow. Talks between Delta and the unicwrtfie Air Line Pilots Association, under way since Sept. 1999, were recessed late last month, and the pilots have voted to approve a strike. Both sides have hinted at significant differences persisting in pay at Delta's low-fare unit, job protection and retirement. Gregg Holm, a spokesman for the ALPA, said in a message on the Delta pilots' hotline that the board notified ALPA on Friday it was scheduling the session. The message didn't indicate what could happen at the Thursday session. A Delta spokeswoman said she had no information about the mediation board session. After a 90-day deadline to reach a mediated settlement expired on Feb. 28, the parties requested a proffer of arbitration, arbitra-tion, a move that could bring them closer to a 30-day "cooling off' period, after which the pilots could strike. Mediators are under no obligation to grant the request, nowever. In his message, Holm also noted that many pilots had made inquiries about President George W. Bush's recent statement state-ment that he would set up a Presidential Emergency Board to delay a looming uechsnics strike at Northwest Airlines Corp. (NASDAQ: NWAC), and move to prevent walkouts at other carriers this year. The Railway Labor Act, which seeks to prevent disruptions to rail and air service, ser-vice, allows the appointment of a presidential presi-dential emergency board to suggest a settlement set-tlement while flights continue. Delta last week said its latest pilot-contract proposal would boost its pilot costs by 25 percent this year and 35 percent by the fourth year of the proposed contract. The nation's third-largest airline said pilot costs would rise to $2.13 billion in 2001 from $1.7 billion a year currently. Delta estimates that under the existing contract, costs would have risen to $1.83 billion for the fourth year, in contrast to Please see Delta and pilots, 8-12 Chicago-based sales and marketing firm. Some sellers want to price their home based on the return they would liketheirjrutial investment, while others will base the price on what they need tobuV thehnrtew home. LocabonT condition, and accessibility are three other variables that will affect the price of a property. It is crucial to price your home correctly from the beginning because it will not sell if it is overpriced. Don't make the mistake of thinking that you can reduce the price later because you will have already lost many potential buyers. The motivation of the seller is another very important factor. The higher the seller's motivation, the lower the price, and low motivation will mean higher price. The state of your local real estate market is one of the strongest determining factors when pricing your home. A professional Realtor will be able to guide you through the pricing pitfalls with a written market analysis that includes the selling prices for similar homes in your area.
