JJS. dARY BUILDING COR R Realtors group marks 20th anniversary Continued from B-11 the first lift-serviced ski area in Park City. The area was built in 1946 on the property where Deer Valley Resort is now located. Snow Park operated with two chair lifts - one beginner and one "big" lift - both nanamaae oy Bob Burns and Otto Carpenter. With help from the Park City Municipal Corporation, Fletcher operated oper-ated a free ski school on the weekends, open to all children chil-dren living in Park City. In 1965, he was invited to direct the ski patrol at Treasure Mountain Resort, predecessor prede-cessor of Park City Mountain Resort. Fletcher spent every day of the winter on skis until 1969, when Snow Park ski resort closed for od. In 1969, Fletcher started a ski patrol program on the weekends at Park City so that the patrollers could get out and ski the powder on their days off. Fletcher was hired as superintendent of maintenance main-tenance for the Park City School District until he retired in 1984. rialized in the Park City Museum after him, and the Biancne run is Fletcher's contributions to the and at Park City Mountain Resort, named after his mother, ski industry in Park City are memo- where the Mel's Alley run is named Masters Carol Agle Martha Brown Tom Calder Deanna Carter Dawn Chapman Steve L. Andy Deane, a spokesman for the ALPA, said in a statement that the union disputes the company's methods for calculating costs and stressed that the two sides are closer clos-er than the Delta paper suggests. "The company has used a different method in calculating costs that we feel inflates the costs," Capt. Deane said. "It looks like we're way far apart. I dont think that's really accurate." The upward pressure in labor costs comes as the airline industry is facing tougher business conditions condi-tions after several years of record profits. At the same time, Delta and other carriers already face sharply higher fuel prices. The Delta report on the contract con-tract cost consequences appears to be an attempt by the carrier to temper the demands of its pilots, whose expectations for a big pay boost soared after UAL Corp.'s United Airlines acquiesced to huge pay increases for its pilots last summer. Employee groups at other airlines have also been pushing for big contract gains. For fiscal 2000, which ended June 30, Delta posted revenue of $15.89 billion, incurring pilot-related pilot-related costs of about $1.7 billion. bil-lion. Delta's total salaries and benefits for the period were $5.6 billion. Separately, Delta reported in its proxy statement filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission that Chairman and Chief Executive Leo F. Mullin received a salary of $745,833 and bonus of $1.4 million for the fiscal fis-cal year ended June 30, 2000. The National Mediation Board is considering the parties' request for arbitration and could either direct them to continue mediated negotiations, if it thinks they would be productive, or offer arbitration. If either side declines arbitration, as typically occurs, they would be released from 'mediation and begin a 30-day 30-day "cooling-off" period, after which the pilots could strike and the company could impose unilateral uni-lateral work conditions.
