Hunt, 65, died March 12, 2001, in Salt Lake City, of adult respiratory distress syndrome. Carla was bom March 23, 1935, in Warren, Ohio, to Martin and Mary Urchek. She was the eldest of seven children. She attended Kent State University, where she graduated in 1957 with a bachelor of arts in education. She earned her masters degree in education educa-tion administration from the University of Utah in 1989. Carla was passionate about teaching kids. She spent 17 years at Treasure Mountain Middle School in Park City, where she was a teacher, vice-principal and principal. From 1994 to 1997, Carla was principal princi-pal of Viewmont Elementary School in Murray, Utah. Carta met the love of her life, James F. Hunt, in 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was teaching at Euclid High School. They were married mar-ried on June 25, 1960 in Cortland, Ohio. Carla was a devoted mother. She loved to pile her three sons into their 1969 Volkswagen Camper, put Jim behind the wheel, and head for the mountains on a long camping trip. She loved the West the smell of fresh sage, the sound of the desert wind, the sight of a canyon sunset Carta cherished spending time at her "mountain home" in Summit Park, where she raised her family, tried to keep the deer away from her garden, watched and fed the wild birds and nursed orphaned squirrels. Her eyes twinkled when she smiled. She loved to laugh. She was kind. She loved and was loved, and we shall miss her. Carta is survived by her husband Jim; her three sons: Jeffrey (Cindy) of Salt Lake City; Thomas (Linda) of San Francisco, Calif.; and David of Sitka, Alaska; three grandchildren: grandchil-dren: Madison, Christopher and Therese Hunt of Salt Lake City; her mother Mary Urchek; four brothers: Martin (Diane Urchek; Ronald (Carolyn) Urchek; Donald (Martha) Urchek; and John (Jan) Urchek, all of Cortland, Ohio; and two sisters: Ellen (Bob) Andohna of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Mary Kay (John) Bellino of North Bloomfield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Urchek, Sr. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the University of Utah Medical Center for their care and support, especially Drs. Estelle Harris and Boaz Markewitz. A funeral mass will be celebrated celebrat-ed March 16, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St Catherine's Catholic Church (Newman Center), 170 South University Dr., Salt Lake City. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 275 U St., Salt Lake City. A reception will follow, also at St. Catherine's Newman Center. Seminar for single moms "Education, the Key to Financial Stability," a seminar sponsored spon-sored by Greenbacks Bringing Hope Foundation (GBH), is the third in a series to help single mothers moth-ers build a self-sufficient lifestyle for themselves and their children. The two-hour seminar will be held on Saturday, March 17 at the State Street campus of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) from 10 a.m. to noon. SLCC has partnered with GBH as part of their commitment to helping single mothers. The SLCC Skill Center will be present programs they have available. The mini-conference series will run through June on the third Saturday of each month. Topics include self-esteem, employment, finances, parenting, exercise and nutrition.
