Show SPRINGVILLE HERALD Thursday, February 8, 2007 Anderson, Penrod to head new high schools 16 The new Salem Hills High School will open in August of 2008 and the new Maple Mountain High School will open in August 2009. With a new school, comes a new principal and staff. Nebo Board of Education has selected se-lected Ann Anderson as the new principal for Salem Hills High and John "Willie" Penrod as the new principal for Maple Mountain High. Anderson has served as the Springville High Princi pal for the past five years. This will be her fourth school as an administrator in our district. She taught English and geography previous pre-vious to becoming an administrator. ad-ministrator. Penrod has worked 11 years for Nebo School District Dis-trict and 22 years outside the district. He is currently the principal of Payson High and has been for the past five years. When accepting this " : . .... Each place I have worked, I have loved. I have made good friends, and it feels like a reunion re-union whenever I return. I have loved and enjoyed the Workshopfor Utah Corny Grazers Persons who graze horses, hors-es, cattle and other types of livestock are invited to attend at-tend a pasture workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Provo City Library. Li-brary. The Natural Resources Resourc-es Conservation Service (NRCS), sponsor of the free public workshop, has scheduled sched-uled two of their area specialists spe-cialists to speak to on ways to increase forage production produc-tion and improve the general health of pasture land. Event organizer, Jeremiah Jer-emiah Armstrong, said the workshop is open to all producers, but will be especially es-pecially helpful for small, part-time farm operators who often do not have the time to plan and apply conservation con-servation and management practices that will improve forage production for their livestock. The meeting, which will include refreshments, will be held in the Brimhall room of the Provo Library, 550 N. University Avenue. During her spare time, she enjoys outdoor out-door family activities such as four-wheeling, snowmo-biling snowmo-biling and spending time at their cabin. She loves scrap booking and watchig her children play spons. Anderson also said, "I love being a high school principal. Working with faculty, staff, students and the community has been a highlight of my experience as a principal. I look forward for-ward to working with the community of Salem Hills High School as we put together to-gether a school culture that will live on for hundreds of years!" When addressing the school board, Penrod said, "I appreciate this honor. It humbles me. A lot of emotions emo-tions come when I have to leave a school. I love the Payson community and couldn't have a better bet-ter faculty. However, I am excited for this new ppportunity. What a won- 1 1 John "Willie" Penrod derful district to be a part of. Thank you very much." Penrod also said, "I have enjoyed working at all levels lev-els of the educational process pro-cess and found each assignment assign-ment to be very exciting and rewarding. I have been blessed to have taught kindergarten kin-dergarten up through sixth grade and to have served as a principal of a middle school, junior high school and high school." "When I am asked which grade or aclministrative position po-sition has been my favorite, it is impossible to select just one because each assign ment has been filled with many wonderful experiences experienc-es and opportunities. Each time I have changed positions, posi-tions, it has been difficult to move on to the next position because of the many friendships friend-ships created and experiences experi-ences shared with students, teachers, parents, and the community. It is exciting to go to work each day," he said. Willie enjoys spending spend-ing time with family! He also likes to fish, hike and bike. He is married to Ann, and they have five children and reside in Mapletoa r . Mother Goose visited Mrs. Beesles first grade classroom at Sage Creek Elementary this week. While she was there the class was transformed into characters from their favorite nursery rhymes. Mother Goose led the class on a parade through the school. The characters later recited their famous nursery rhymes. Each student wrote the nursery rhymes from memory and added illustrations. WEEKLY CONTEST: Where in Springville was this picture taken?
