After seeing it four different times during the day in the same field and with little success of finding a mate, it looks like a long, drawn-out spring and summer for this particular bird. BLM decision for Greater Deadman Bench drilling The Bureau of Land Management Man-agement Vernal Field Office announced last week the availability avail-ability of the Record of Decision for the Greater Deadman Bench 011 and gas field development project. The ROD details the BLM's decision regarding the Questar Exploration and Production Company oil and gas drillingplan for a project area located about 12 miles southeast of Vernal, within an already-developed oil and gas field. Under the plan, up to 1,020 natural gas' wells and 348 oil wells may be drilled. Approximately Approxi-mately 170 miles of new roads and 235 miles of pipelines, 31 miles of power lines, 22 new central cen-tral tank facilities, and 15 new gas compressor stations may also be constructed in conjunction with the field development. The environmental impacts of the drilling plan were analyzed ana-lyzed in depth and disclosed in a Final Environmental Impact Statement. Prior to finalizing the EIS, BLM consulted with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Ser-vice to identify mitigation and conservation measures aimed at reducing or avoiding potential impacts to threatened, endangered endan-gered or candidate sensitive species. spe-cies. Additionally, the proponent committed not to drill within the 100-year floodplain of the Green River. After reviewing and carefully considering the FEIS, decisions regarding the plan were made, and all practical mitigation measures mea-sures were brought forward from the FEIS into the ROD. Under the plan, up to 627 natural gas wells may be drilled using 473 new well pads and 154 existing well pads. Those wishing wish-ing to donate to help the family with mounting medical bills can contribute at any Wells Fargo branch. The Hays family learned that Christina had cancer in December. Decem-ber. In January tests showed the cancer - which doesn't provide any early warning symptoms - had already progressed to stage 4. Christina shared her story of hope and courage in last week's Uintah Basin Standard. Christina, who is known for her giving and compassionate spirit, has a wide circle of friends and family rallying beside her and husband Jason. These supporters sup-porters are also organizing a huge yard sale set for Friday and Saturday in the parking lot of the Tri-Cinemas in Vernal.
