Park City left with a heavy 12-2 defeat on their shoulders for the ride home. This was the Miner's prize after leading lead-ing 2-0 through three innings. It was then that the Ute bats erupted, it took just three more innings for the game to end due to the 10-run rule. "I am very happy they worked on their skills," said Head Coach Claye Robb about the team. Alexis Bowthorpe hit the game's only home run over the left field fence. It was also her first of the season. Ute tr "She just flat-out drove the ball over the fence," complimented compli-mented Robb. "She has hit the ball real good all season and she was due for a hit like that. I knew it would happen because of some goals she has set and then focused on pursuing them in practice. She is one of those athletes that will do anything she is asked and then with the right mindset she just gets it done." Chanel Pace came up just short of following Bowthorpe, hitting a triple during the game. Robb said he was impressed with her fearlessness at the plate. Three Utes, Gabby Cooley, Ja-nessa Ja-nessa Curtis and Madisen Robb hit doubles in the contest. "Curtis and Cooley are some of the hardest workers on our team," explained Robb. "They are natural team leaders by their work ethic and attitudes." atti-tudes." Makenzie Timothy and Taylor Craven shared pitching duties, Timothy was awarded the win. Robb said he was impressed with her performance and Craven's strong finish. "It was a good win for us to start region play with,"stated Robb. All-staters Continued from CI leaders who inspire teammates and younger players to workhard on and off the court and to make good decisions. "They are great young men and have been fun to have around. They are successful because they are team players and we have a team who complimented com-plimented each other." Bunderson lead the Utes in scoring and assists with 12.9 points and 4.2 assist. He had a 2.4-to-l assist turnover ratio which is excellent in Mansfield's opinion because of how often Bunderson handled the ball. "He was a smart defender and kept the opponents point guards in check and out of the paint all season," said Mansfield. "He was very difficult to guard for the opposition and opposing coaches had to get creative to keep the ball out of his hands. Bunderson was also an academic aca-demic All-State recipient with a 4.0 GPA. His accomplishments in athletics can be traced to his work ethic. He works hard and smart in everything he does. His a great example to younger kids in our program." Curtis led the Utes in rebounds re-bounds with 6.4 and had seven points per game. "Curtis is a worker," said Mansfield. "He has a passion to do what is necessary to help the team win. It was fun watching watch-ing him compete against bigger big-ger opponents all season long and watching them work for everything. Opponents knew they were in a battle when they walked off of the court after a game. He was physical, aggressive, aggres-sive, smart and gave our team energy. He got after every loose ball. He is always positive and willing to help teammates. "What a great example of a greut teammate and friend as he always makes the effort to include every member of the team (young or old) in our success," suc-cess," said Mansfield. |
