Team roping leaders are Clay O'Brien Cooper, Chandler, Ariz., and Jake Barnes, Bloomfield, N.M., at $43,209. Tee Woolman, Llano, Texas, is third at $38,911. Jim Davis, Bandera, Texas, leads the steer wrestling at $22,776 and Shaun Bur-chett, Bur-chett, Pryor, Okla., is second at $17,491. La.,i4Ui, at?12,708. Feild, who is related to the Paul Buhler family in Vernal, leads both the all-around cowboy and bareback riding. Feild is in first place in the all-around cowboy at $85,767 and has a $9,055 lead over second placer Tuff Hedeman, El Paso, Texas, at $76,712. Chris Lybbert, Argyle, Texas, is third at $71,075. Elk Ridge, Utah's Feild is the top bareback rider at $57,020. Clint Corey, Cor-ey, Silverdale, Wash., is second at $48,753. Danny Brady, Henderson, Nev., is fifth at $42,295. Feild and Brady are former Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo cowboys. Mickey Young, who Feild was the all-around cowboy at the Jaycees Bootheel Rodeo in Sikeston, Mo. Feild won Sikeston's saddle bronc riding and placed in the bareback riding. The rodeo paid out $46,219. Jimmie Cooper earnered all- around honors at Colorado Springs, taki ng home nearly $4,000 of Pikes Peak or Bust's $67,000 payoff. Cooper wori the calf roping competition and placed in the team roping. Both Cooper and Feilds are former world all-around title winners. Utah's Volunteers Charmayne James, Clayton, N.M., leads the barrel racing event with $69,580. Rose Webb, Perris, Calif., is $34,753 behind James in second place at $34,827. Donna Cogburn, Guthrie, Okla., is third at $23,053. Just ahead 'the helping hands JOIN US Dinah Spurs snare honors The Dinah Spurs Riding Club competed com-peted in the Utah State Western District 4 Meet in Heber, Friday and Saturday. Club members qualified for the region meet. Laurie Hunting, Ray Morris, Carol Albrecht, Doreen Hunting and Gene Bigelow placed third in team poles. The second team of Don Shull, Mindy Eaton, Leslie Smith, Tish Clark and Doyle Harrison pocketed fifth. Shull and Gene Hunting placed second se-cond in the hide race. Smith and Bigelow nabbed fifth in the trailer race. Clark snared fifth in the ladies barrels. Bigelow, Smith, Clark and Harrison Har-rison captured third in the relay race .' in spite of one horse running half a race, stopping and then running the rest of the way. Harrison nabbed first in the men's western pleasure and third in the cutting. cut-ting. Clark placed fourth in the ladies western pleasure and Eaton netted fifth. The team of Eaton and Morris nabbed second in the matched pairs. Morris also placed third and Harrison Har-rison fourth in the reining stock horse class. Bigelow picked up sixth in the 1-8 mile race. Morris garnered fifth in the calf roping and teamed up with Bigelow for fifth place in the wild cow milking contest. Shull and Harrison snared fifth in the dally team roping. The Dinah Spurs also placed second se-cond in the Class C parade drill. Region competition will be August 22-23 in Heber. The first through fifth place winners at region will take part in the state championships, September 5-6. New membership applications will be accepted by the Dinah Spurs, November 1. Chamber golf tourney slated The Vernal Chamber of Commerce will host a golf tournament, Saturday at 1 p.m. Eighteen holes of golf will be played and all golfers are invited to take part in the tournament, which will be scramble style. It will be played on the Dinaland Golf Course. Racers net first places Cindy Young garnered first place open goat tying honors in a Uintah Basin Barrel Racing Association jackpot, Tuesday, August 12 in a time of 10.2. Sonja Labrum placed second at 10.6 and Amy Adams placed third at 10.8. Marie Jenkins pocketed fourth at 1 1,0. Adams picked up first place in the open barrels at 17.9 and Tamara Vincent Vin-cent placed second at 18 1. Jenkins snared third at IS 4 and naljUti first In the open poles at 22.3. Darlrnc Atx'ggli'n finished in second and JoAnn Workman nabbed third at 23 2, Young placed fourth at 24 0. Michcle tiastian finished tourth In the open barrels at 18.5.
