LJl iJ Edward (Ted) Colton Ted Colton dies in Duchesne Edward (Ted) Colton, 56, died at his home in Duchesne, Utah on Aug. 18, 1986. Born Feb. 10, 1930 in Salt Lake City to James Edward Lawless and Easther Colesta Colton. Married Ann Tripp in Vernal Aug. 31, 1985. Was a lifelong resident of the Uintah Basin, graduate of Uintah High School class of 1948, Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, Con-flict, mink rancher with his uncle, Milas Y. Colton. Was a postal carrier for seven years, Colton TV Co. for 20 years, owner of Eastern Utah Office Equipment, rancher and farmer at Cat Creek Ranch with Craig Caldwell. Had a love for livestock and of purebred Suffolk sheep, and a rewarding rewar-ding lifestyle. He enjoyed taking pictures. Survivors include wife of Duchesne; sons and daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Car-ma (Car-ma Rae) Bascom of Vernal, Bruce Edward Ed-ward Colton of Vernal, Daryl Lee Colton Col-ton of Vernal, Julie Ann Massey of Vernal and Tamera Lyn Colton; 11 grandchildren; former wives, Colleen R. Colton, Naon Colton and Marion E. Colton; 11 stepchildren, 5 step grandchildren; grand-children; brother, Wade K. Carroll, San Jose, Calif.; sister, Susan Exum, Colorado Springs, Colo.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; two aunts, Isabel Colton of Vernal and Mary Fisher of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by mother and father, brother, Richard H. Lowe and son-in-law, Scott Massey. Funeral services will be held Friday, Fri-day, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Vernal Fourth Ward chapel. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Duchesne First Ward Chapel and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. at Thomson's Vernal Mortuary. Mrs. Broussard died Sunday morning, morn-ing, July 13, 1986 at Trinity Manor Park Retirement Center where she had made her some since 1980. Born Sept. 29, 1891 in Berryville, Ark., where she attended Clarks Academy. The family moved to Texas in 1903 where she graduated from Chapel Hill College. Later, she attended attend-ed Shriner College and the University of Texas at Austin. She married D. Louis Broussard, Jr., on Oct. 22, 1913 in Anahuac, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1927. She taught public school in Texas then moved to Vernal to teach music with her daughter, Juana (Banks) Morse in 1949 when Harmony Hall, School of Music and Dancing was begun. She was a private music teacher for more than 50 years. She is survived by two daughters, Juana B. Morse and Mrs. Jerry (Eloise) Covington of Midland, Texas; one son, D. Louis Broussard III, of Council, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Grace H. Young succumbs in Salt Lake City Grace Hansen Young, 74, passed away Aug. 16, 1986 in Salt Lake. Born Nov. 11, 1911 in Mammoth, Utah to Nelson James and Henrietta Kershaw Hansen. Married Kermit Edward Ed-ward Young Sept. 1, 1934 in Salt Lake; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death July Ju-ly 30, 1984. Member LDS church. Survived by three daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Marilyn) Swain, San Angelo, Texas; Mrs. Ed (Elna) Curry and Mrs. Michael (Cheryl) Andrews, both of Salt Lake; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Childs, Orem; Mrs. Ruby Jaoobsen, Provo; Mrs. Norma Card-new, Card-new, Lindon; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hansen, Salt Lake; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. Born July 4, 1919 in Bennett, Utah, a daughter of Edgar and Lillian Mae Hewitt Barker. Married Lawrence M. Allen May 18, 1940 in Vernal. She was a homemaker, member of the LDS Church Maeser 1st Ward. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. She sang in the ward choir and enjoyed handwork and made many quilts. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include husband of Vernal; Ver-nal; son and daughters, Larry A. Former Vernal resident dies of heart failure Emma LaVelle Schafermeyer, 77, died Aug. 15, 1986 at her home of heart failure. Born Feb. 19. 1909 to James N. and Mary Ann Bodily Jones. Married Neal V. Schafermeyer Jan. 9, 1032 in Los Angeles. Had lived in Vernal until 1941 and Roosevelt until 1976. Had resided in Kaysville since that time. Graduated from Vernal HiH" School. Active memlx'r of the LDS church, served on the Primary stake board and in the Relief Society presidency. Had also la-en a president of the YWMIA. She enjoyed being involved in Cub Scouting. "Casey" Bown, 78, of Salt Lake City, Utah died Aug. 14, 1986 at Flaming Flam-ing Gorge, Utah. Born March 29, 1908 in Provo, Utah to J. Leo and Emma Newell Bown. Married Aldean Burnham Jan. 16, 1939 in Randolph. Utah. He received his education in B.Y. High School and attended BYU in 1927. Following his education he went back to ranching in Garfield County, Henry Mountains. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Ar-my Air Forces and served in Boise, Idaho and Spokane, Wash. Following his release from the military, he went to work for P.E. Ash ton Motor in truck sales. In 1947 he was employed by the Utah State Wildlife Resources and the fish and game where he retired in 1972. Since his retirement he has lived in Daggett County and Flaming Gorge, five miles from the dam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the out-of-doors. Lifetime member of the BPOE No. 849 in Provo. Survived by wife of Salt Lake City; two step sons, one step-daughter, T. Dean Spackman and wife, Dorothy, of Salt Lake City; Paul Penrose Spackman and wife, Audrey, of Orem ; Linda Spackman Brown of Yakima, Wash.; 11 step-grandchildren; 30 step great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Emma Lee) Mecham and Alice Johnson, both of Grand Junciton, Colo. " 1 f NEW BREEZEWAY between the old and the new Uintah County Buildings is open for those wanting to get between the two buildings. Trouble over head in new county breezeway Uintah County Commissioners are challenging the architect of the the new state and building concerning the installation of an over-sized heating unit in the breezeway. The contractor for the remodeling of the older portion of the county building, Angus Construction, reported to the commissioners that the over-sized heating unit is too big to fit in the ceiling of the breezeway between the two buildings. The breezeway has to be heated two-year commission, Robert D. Showalter, 178 votes, beat out Jim McMickell, 145. In the state school board race, Harold S. Jensen came out on top in Uintah County with 1,005 votes or 28.52 percent.
