Show a .1 a I A IJS YefMl CXpTiMHdYertlSef Wednesday, Moy 2, 1 984 Candidates being sought for 1984 rodeo queen Girls interested in becoming a candidate can-didate for rodeo queen of the 1984 Dinosaur Round-Up, July 12, 13 and 14 should submit their applications as quickly as possible to the rodeo queen committee. Qualifications for candidates require re-quire that girls are single, at least 17 years of age, are able to ride, live in Uintah County and have poise and charm. Applicants for rodeo queen must also have a sponsor. Any girl that has difficulty in locating a sponsor may contact committee members who will aid them in their search. Girls entering the contest must be able to compete in Miss Rodeo America. Members would like to encourage all businesses, clubs, organizations and oil-field companies in the area to spon sor local girls. "We would really like to make this (the round-up) a community event and would encourage all eligible girls to apply, and to encourage anyone who can to sponsor a girl," said committee commit-tee chairwoman Bobbie Mott. The rodeo and queen competition are sponsored by the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce. Girls interested in submitting an application ap-plication may do so in writing to Bobbie Bob-bie Mott, 956 South 500 West, Vernal, or may call her at 789-1554 or 789-7555. Other committee members that may be contacted regarding the contest or requirements are Elaine Henderson at 789-2660, Pat McConkie at 789-2195 or Jess Faupell. Bureau appoints project engineer The Bureau of Reclamation has appointed ap-pointed Jan Ringel, Duchesne, as field engineer for the construction of the Upper Stillwater Dam in the northwest portion of Duchesne County. The roller-compacted concrete dam, to be located about 50 miles northwest of Duchesne in upper Rock Creek Canyon, Can-yon, will be 2,700 feet long, 275 feet wide, and crest at 300 feet. The dam will hold 35,000 acre-feet of water and will have a spillway capacity of releasing releas-ing 14,000 cubic feet of water per second sec-ond from the backed-up waters of Rock Creek. The dam will be part of the Strawberry Collection System, which will transport water from the Uintah Basin to the Bonneville Basin by 1986. It is also part of the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Water Project. Rangely police arrest man on Uintah County rape charges TEMPERATURES Henry Lee True was arrested April 30 by Rio Blanco County Sheriff's Deputy Bill Murry, on first degree felony charges stemming from a rape that allegedly occurred in Uintah County. At the time of his arrest, True, who is a native of Buena Vista, Colo., was living in Rangely. True is charged with raping a minor in Uintah County in July Ju-ly of 1983. Det. Sgt. Manuel Cantu with the Uintah Uin-tah County Sheriff's Office was in formed of the alleged rape by Rangely Range-ly Police Sergeant Mike Reynolds, April 26.
