Show Taylor announces candidacy for GOP Mark J. Taylor announced Saturday, Satur-day, March 9, at the Salt Lake County Republican Convention that he is a candidate for Chairman of the Utah Republican Party. Taylor, a partner in the Salt Lake City law firm of Strong & Hanni and currently chairman of the Davis j County Republican Party, stated that his experience would help the party solve its current challenges. According to Taylor, "The Utah Republican Party needs all Republicans to work together for a victory in 1992, it needs to develop a long-term financial plan, and it needs to take the lead in identifying and proposing solutions to the challenges facing Utah. He was raised on a farm in southern Idaho and has lived in Utah for most of the last 25 years. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University and the J. Reuben Clark Law School. Taylor has risen through the Republican ranks, serving as a voting district chairman, delegate to state and county conventions, a director di-rector of the Utah Key Republicans, a member of the State Policy and Issues Committee, and he is currently current-ly chairman of the Davis County Republican Party and is a member of the State Central Committee and State Executive Committee.
