Their long wait was over on Monday, Mon-day, when Mayor Jake Simmons cut the ribbon signifying the grand opening of the new facility located at 345 N. Hwy. 89. Assistant Post Master Reed Poll, Clerk in Charge Robert McMann, city officials and members of the Bountiful Area Chamber of Commerce Com-merce were on hand to help celebrate the long-awaited opening. Ground was broken on the new facility in May 1990 and it was scheduled to open in September. Since that time a number of deadlines have been missed by the contractor, causing construction delays. "We're glad it's finally finished," fin-ished," said Kent Walker, acting supervisor of window services for the Bountiful Post Office. "We've waited a long time to make this move. ' The new office doubles the size of the old. "The post office box area is much bigger. We should be able to provide a lot faster, more efficient ef-ficient service at the new office," Walker said. Applications for post office boxes are being taken at this time.
