Show Olympic hopeful Holly Cook skates through a whirlwind season to help defray the cost of her training. train-ing. Holly has received some help in the past from private sponsors, but her newly-acquired world class rankings will mean even more ex- penses as she prepares for new competitions. Three evening performances and a Saturday matinee are scheduled for "Hot in the City." The evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. matinee slated for Saturday. Tickets can be purchased at the Bountiful Recreation Center or through Smithtix. By TOM HARALDSEN 1 i i BOUNTTFUL-For world-class j figure skater Holly Cook, there's no immediate rest in sight 1 Holly, who just completed an ex- tensive tour of the U.S. after winning winn-ing the bronze medal at the World Figure Skating Championships in Calgary, will be among performers this weekend at the annual Utah Figure Skating Club's Bountiful Ice Arena musical, titled "Hot in the City." She'll join with U.S. men's bronze medalist Mark Mitchell in the annual production May 17, 18 and 19 at the Bountiful Ice Arena. Both skaters recently returned from a 45-day, 25-city exhibition tour of the United States. Holly's whirlwind season will continue after the musical ends, as she begins learning new numbers in preparation for further competition. She's accepted a request to guest ! star at a two-day summer ice show over July 4th in Sun Valley, Idaho. The cast for that show includes 1 former Olympic and World Cham- ' pion Brian Boitano. She will also fly to Seattle in I August to compete in the second ' Goodwill Games. Holly recently announced her intentions in-tentions of making a bid for the 1992 U.S. Olympic team, a decision that solidifies a hectic two-year period of intense training. That will also mean daily four to six-hour workouts at the Bountiful Ice Arena.
