Show Diet Center offers body composition analysis Area residents will now have the opportunity for a body composition analysis. The service is being provided pro-vided to the public by Diet Center representatives at the Diet Center location in the Davis County area. Hours for the testing are by appointment. Diet Center will measure body composition through bio-impedance, a technology which can assess how much "muscle" (lean body mass) and how much fat a person has. By combining an individual's in-dividual's basal metabolic rate with other energy output out-put factors, an appropriate lean-to-fat body mass ratio is estimated. Thus technology is the basis for the Diet Center Program in the Davis County area. In just minutes, a computer prints out the results. "To many dieters are focused on the scales," said Deanna Birdzell, owner of the Bountiful Diet Center. "The scale is helpful, but can only measure weight. In 1985, the Consensus Conference on Obesity organized by the National Institutes of Health defined obesity as excess body fat, not weight," continued Birdzell.
