Show Drug-related info snowballs UINTAH BASIN The Uintah Basin Narcotics Strike Force made five arrests last week for various drug-related offenses. The arrests were made based on information from citizens following follow-ing the Uintah Basin Roundup April 27 when the Strike Force members joined the FBI and Federal Tobacco and Firearms agents to arrest over 70 people, including. 10 juveniles, on drug and firearms violations. Several warrants were still outstanding after the April 27 bust. On May 13 members of the Strike Force apprehended Robert Arlen Dowdell, 34 of Verlan, and Kyle Teal, 28, also of Vernal. Dowdell was charged with one count of distribution of marijuana, third degree felony. Teal was charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. The strike force seized over a half pound of suspected marijuana valued at about $800. A separate investigation May 16, by Sgt. Robert Vandebusse, Vernal City Police and Deputy Gerald Cook, Uintah County Sheriffs Office, led to the arrest of three persons on cocaine charges. Arrested were Deana Morlock, 30, of Vernal; April Ross, 25, Vernal; Ver-nal; and Tammie Freestone, 32, Vernal. Morlock faces multiple charges of distribution and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute. Freestone was charged with possession of cocaine and Ross is charged with three counts of distribution of cocaine, one count of possession of cocaine and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Early Saturday evening execution of two search warrants war-rants by the officers and members of the Strike Force at the homes of Ross and Morlock netted suspected cocaine, niarijuana and drug paraphernalia. A result of the investigation also turned up the arrest of Arlan Pochant, who was wanted on a warrant issued as put of the Uintah Basin Roundup. He was charged with distribution of cocaine. "Drug-related information has snowballed since the roundup and has no signs of slowing down,' ' Sgt. Boren said. |
