Show China painters set state convention Members of the Utah World Organization of China Painters have scheduled a Utah State Convention Con-vention for June 5 and 6 at the Olympus Hotel, 161 W. 600 South, Salt Lake City. According to Viola Smith, state president, there are eight chapters in Utah totaling some 110 members. Many of them will display their paintings at the convention. Recognized as a fine art, china painting refers to painting on porcelain, not painting in the Oriental Orien-tal style. Invitation to attend the conventionexhibit is extended to everyone who wishes to learn about the process of china painting. Latest trends and painting techniques will be demonstrated by Utah artists as well as painters from other states. Activities begin on Friday, June 5 at 10 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6 the show will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. Cost for the conventionexhibition conven-tionexhibition is a $2 entry fee, with a small charge for each of the hour-long demonstrations.
