Show Bryce breaks records BRYCE CANYON Final figures released by the park show that 1,324,944 people visited the park in 1991, an increase of nine percent over 1990, continuing a statewide trend for areas administered ad-ministered by the National Park Service. All areas that have released figures show increased visitation for 1991. December figures showed an increase of almost 21 percent over December 1990. With the exception of November and April, which were unusually cold and wet, the park showed significant increases in visitation for the off season months. Visitors are coming earlier in the year, and later, to avoid the summer crowds. February, October and December also had Increases of at least 20 percent over those months in 1990. The increasing popularity of area recreational opportunities is believed to have played an important role in these increases. Ski touring, mountain biking and snowmobiling have been promoted pro-moted by area businesses and the Garfield Travel Council, and their efforts appear to be succeeding. |
