Show Montgomery 0 honored by WX police By MARK EDDINGTON Staff Writer WOODS CROSS Woods Cross Police Lt Clarence Montgomery Mon-tgomery was recognized by the City Council recently for the role he played in helping to solve last month's drive-by shootings. Three Davis County teens were arrested by Bountiful and Woods Cross police officers Jan. 17 for their involvement in the drive-by shootings of six homes and two vehicles. The shootings were carried car-ried out by three students at Woods Cross High School as part of a personal per-sonal vendetta for slights they felt they had suffered at school. Montgomery, a department veteran vet-eran with over 20 years of law enforcement en-forcement experience, was given a letter of appreciation by the City Council recognizing him for his devotion to duty. City administrator Bret Wahlen said Montgomery worked weekends week-ends and put in a lot of extra hours developing leads that led to the eventual arrest of the suspects. Many of those hours were spent talking to local students. "He has very good rapport with students at Woods Cross High. They (the students) have confidence in him and he was able to communicate com-municate with the students on a level where they could trust him," Wahlen explained.
