Show Hospital oners seniors free cholesterol screens LAYTON Acknowledging the special needs of senior citizens, Humana Hospital Davis North is introducing a local chapter of the Humana Seniors Association with free cholesterol screens and a presentation pre-sentation by a nationally-known cardiologist and fitness author. George Sheehan, a 68-year-old fitness expert, will speak at the grand opening enrollment seminars semi-nars on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m., 12 noon and 3 p.m. The seminars semi-nars will be held on the third floor of the Davis North Medical Office Building, 1660 W. Antelope Drive, southwest of the hospital. Senior citizens will also receive cholesterol screens, a personalized national health test review, refreshments re-freshments and the opportunity to win door prizes. Sheehan is the author of four best-selling fitness books and is a columnist for a physician's sports medicine magazine. The local chapter of the Humana Seniors Association, one of 70 in the United States, will offer special services and discounts to members age 65 and over. The club services include an on-site insurance specialist spe-cialist to help seniors complete the often confusing paperwork of insurance in-surance of Medicare claims, free notary public and copying services, ser-vices, room upgrades and other benefits be-nefits at any Humana Inc. facility, monthly meetings and planned social so-cial events, free blood pressure and blood glucose testing, discounted cholesterol checks, free 30-day use of an in-home emergency response system, free subscription to the association's bi-monthly newsletter newslet-ter and major discounts on vision care products, medical prescriptions, prescrip-tions, restaurants and travel items. Upon admission to a Humana hospital, members are offered private pri-vate accommodations, when available, avail-able, at the same price as a semi-private semi-private room, complimentary use of televisions and telephones and free meals for their spouse. The social events, said Lora Kier, senior advisor, will be planned plan-ned by the members, although preliminary pre-liminary plans include entertainment entertain-ment trips, bus tours to Nevada gaming resorts and a variety of socials. so-cials.
