Show 'What does Bountiful need'? Mayor Stahle asks Kiwanians Mayor Stahle suggested that a community center could be in the colonial style and showed several architects' drawings. The center could include a theatre for the arts and ground level stores. It could be an inviting area and would be based where the old Stoker building is located. Following his talk, Bountiful Kiwanians will consider how the International motto "We Build" can be applied to tasks and activities activi-ties Kiwanians might assume to help fulfill the dream of a community commun-ity center. Bountiful Mayor Dean Stahle suggested to Bountiful Kiwanians in their regular meeting that they consider with him "What does Bountiful need that it doesn't have?" and "What should Bountiful Bounti-ful be?" He outlined what the city has been through, what has been done, and discussed attempts to seek major ma-jor mall centers. "We spend most of our lives ...much of our discretionary time here," he said, "and we have to avoid a scattered and decaying city. We lack a "heart." In respect to cities with "hearts," he said that many had re-vitalized by developing develop-ing activity centers with a relationship relation-ship to downtown business and an influence for improved income. |
