Jaycees gets training in first aid and CPR Imagine yourself walking along a crowded sidewalk, enjoying the chance to exercise, bask in the sun, and do a little bit of window shopping. shop-ping. Suddenly, an cider gentleman gentle-man ahead of you staggers slightly, and then collapses, as you approach him you notice he is not breathing. Your first reaction would be to shout for help. Quick, what do you do? This is only an example of what could happen at any time. Are you prepared to deal with this situation? situa-tion? The Bountiful Jaycees were taught how to recognize the symptoms symp-toms associated with these type emergencies. EMEDCO was invited in-vited to give the membership a course in first aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) as a pilot project. Roger and Deann Barnson founded EMEDCO 12 years ago, as they realized the need for education in this area. EMEDCO retains a staff of certified certi-fied paramedics, emergency medical technicians, nurses and doctors. Resusci-Annies were used to give the membership an opportunity to see whether they were giving CPR property. There was also training for application with children and infants should they need CPR. Shauna Knighton was the chairlady of the event. The Bountiful Jaycees extend their thanks to her for a job well done. This project will become a yearly offering to the public, beginning begin-ning in 1989. This is education that is highly recommended.
