General topics to be discussed in clude : control of newspapers by editorial edi-torial staff, publication councils, student governments and faculty; the value of the yearbook in he present day college system; restrictions restric-tions on freedom of the press, and the task of the student paper. Vincent sees the RMCPA conference confer-ence as a "time for a real exchange of ideas and formats between individuals in-dividuals and the student media." The RMCPA agenda calls for an address by Utah Attorney General Phil L. Hansen, an awards banquet, the choice of the 1969 convention site and election of new officers. Awards on tap include: best cartoons, car-toons, won last year by the Utah Daily Chronicle's Bill Whittacker; newspaper photos ; yearbook; best feature and the outstanding paper. The latter honor goes to the paper which has best five consecutive issues. An interesting choice has already appeared on the horizon. Both Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University and the University Uni-versity of Utah yearbooks were judged nationally as "All-American" for 1967-68. A Rocky Mountain Mount-ain winner will have to be decided from the two. |
