On Display In Art Gallery An exhibit of paintings representing repre-senting each state in the nation is i being shown in the Union Art Gallery. Gal-lery. "Fifty Artists from Fifty States" was organized by the Rockford Art t Association and is being distribut-j distribut-j ed throughout the United States. I Recognized Artists I "We believe that the exhibit em-1 em-1 phasizes that there are able and recognized artists living everywhere every-where in the nation," Mrs. William R. Sneed, President of the Rockford Art Association said. Paintings for the exhibit were chosen by inviting a representative artist from each state to submit three slides to a jury. From these slides, the paintings were chosen. Wide Range Of Art The exhibition ranges from the representational work of Joseph Flore's "Watching the Breakers" (Maine), the assemblage of John Day's "Portal" (Connecticut), the figurative-abstraction of Alex Duff Combs' "Migration" (Alaska), to the hard edge abstraction of Kenneth Ken-neth Noland's "Approx" (Vermont) (Ver-mont) . The Union Art Gallery is on the first floor of the Union south of the pool hall. The exhibit will be up until May 3. "Watching The Breakers" by Joseph Fiore is one of 50 paintings on display in the Union Art Gallery. The exihibit is entitled, "Fifty Artists From Fifty States," and will be on display on May 3. |
