Show Editorial "What's Up? From whatever consideration three ASUU candidates acted in giving their consent to the sending out of a letter of endorsement signed by 12 freshmen, it is more than evident evi-dent that any good results of the campaign have been nulli-field nulli-field by the ineptitude w ith which the operation was carried out. Even if there was no malicious intent, as claimed, the fact remains that a misleading endorsement was sent out to 2,000 freshmen an endorsement with names of other freshmen recognized as student leaders. ' The fact that three of the names were misspelled further fur-ther verifies the clumsiness with which the maneuver was performed, giving further validity to the complaint by Patti Kane that she had not given the letter's writers permission to use her name. Miss Kane's first knowledge of the letter and the fact that her name had been signed to it was when she received a copy through the mail Monday. Hers was one of the misspelled names. In the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that all three candidates had been content to accept the assurances assur-ances of the letter's writers that all was well and that the first time any of them were aware of anything being wrong was "uesday afternoon. The fact remains, however, that whether by negligence r deliberate intent, 2000 students were misled by this highly uestionable campaign practice. In fairness to them and the ther candidates, the Chronicle advocates an investigation f the entire affair by the Elections Committee and the Com-: Com-: littee on Student Regulations. |
