Show CAA STATION WERE TO CLOSE Milford's Airways Communication Communi-cation station will be discon-ued discon-ued during the coming year, except ex-cept for operation of a V O R range, which will require only one maintenance technician to operate. That was the report given a representative group of citizens of the community on Tuesday by Mr. J. E. Read, deputy dep-uty administrator for this region, re-gion, and Mr. Art Johnson, chief of the operations division. The closing of the Milford CAA station is part of a nationwide nation-wide economy program, and all "unnecessary" stations duplicating duplicat-ing work of other stations or overlapping fpeilitios, will, be closed, Mr. Read said. Eventually Eventu-ally only 12 low frequency "voice" stations will remain in this division. Mr. Read explained that the very high frequency ranges have proved more efficient in all types of weather, and the national na-tional program calls for eventual even-tual change-over of all stations except those serving fields and areas with heavy air traffic |
