Show P.-T. A. HEARS TALK ON SCHOOL FINANCES; JUNIOR POLICE TO PATROL TRAFFIC LANES AND SCHOOL GROUNDS ' More than 73 parents and I teachers attended the first open meeting of the P.-T. A. last M o n day evening. Principal speaker was School Board President Pres-ident Joe C. Smith, who addressed ad-dressed the group on school finances. Mr. Smith discussed the school budget, explaining the purpose of the budget hearings, hear-ings, and reading the financial report for a recent year. He concluded his talk by listing ' projects and school improvements improve-ments in Beaver County the last few years. Improvements in school facilities included remodeling re-modeling the old gymnasium at Milford High into an adequate, more convenient lunch room; repairs to the music room, gymnasium gym-nasium and auditorium, with acoustic plaster being installed in the auditorium. President Toni Uffens introduced intro-duced the officers of the P.-T. A. and faculty members were introduced in-troduced by the school principals, princi-pals, Mr. Rex and Mr. Fisher. Mrs. Edna Smith, sixth grade teacher and librarian, was appointed ap-pointed second vice .president for the current year. Mrs. Loretta Cline, program chairman, directed presentation of the following program: Two vocal numbers by the high school Girls' Chorus; vocal solos, Joan Smith, accompanied by Mrs. E. L. Smith; and talk, by Mr. Smith. Membership in the P.-T. A. is lagging, compared to last year, Mrs. Uffens said, pointing out that at present there are but 185 paid-up members, compared com-pared to 250 at this time last year. The danger to school children from cars driving thru the school grounds was discussed, and Mr. Rex assured the parents par-ents that high school children would patrol the . grounds and crossings in the near future. Through cooperation of the Milford Lions Club and the Milford Mil-ford City Council, Sam Browne belts and special" Junior Police badges will be issued to high school students selected by Mr. Rex and faculty members, and these Junior Policemen will have "full authority" so far as school traffic safety is concerned, con-cerned, Mayor Smith said. Mr. Rex also announced that Adult Education classes will be offered this winter, if the people peo-ple of Milford show sufficient interest. Thfese classes have been very popular in past years.
