Show Burningham new chamber head; officers named Larry Burningham, manager of Sprouse-Reitz Store, has been named president of the Springville Chamber of Commerce Com-merce following a meeting of board members on Wednesday morning. His elevation to the presidency presi-dency came about when present pres-ent board members met and approved a change of the bylaws by-laws regarding the election of the president. The previous by-laws on election elec-tion of the president and vice president read as follows: Section Sec-tion 4 The president and vice president shall hold office for one year or until their successors suc-cessors are duly elected and qualified. At the board meeting the proposed change on this was voted in which calls for the election of a president-elect from a list of at least two members selected by the nominating nomi-nating committee. The candidate candi-date with the fewer votes of the two will automatically become be-come a member of the board of directors for a two year term, while the president-elect will serve two years also, becoming the president the second year of his term. The president-elect also serves as the vice president. presi-dent. Mi. Burningham has served as vice president during the past year to President Melvin Duke and was named president by the board on a retroactive sanction by the board. Subsequently Subse-quently the Chamber will be voting on a new president-elect, and board members. Holdover directors named last year are Dean Brian, Norman Gustav-son. Gustav-son. Bob McConnell, W. L. Snelson and Maury Thomas. The new by-laws also stated that the vice president will be chairman of the nominating committee.
