Show Joseph E. Bemolfo, Jr. March of Dimes chairman for Utah re-named Joseph E. Bernolfo, Jr., chairman of the Board of Directors Di-rectors of Bamberger Investment Invest-ment Co., Salt Lake City, has been reappointed Utah State Chairman for the 1969 March of Dimes, Basil O'Connor, president pres-ident of The National Foundation, Founda-tion, announced. Mr. Bernolfo will direct thousands of volunteer workers throughout the state during the January campaign to raise funds to support the voluntary health organization's attack on birth defects through a nationwide nation-wide scientific research program, pro-gram, as well as a comprehensive comprehen-sive public and professional information in-formation program. The Utah March of Dimes will also help support a network of 103 March of Dimes treatment centers cen-ters throughout the country. One of the finest of these centers cen-ters is located in Salt Lake City, with an annual grant of over $42,000. This center -in Salt Lake City provides care for the over 1,600 birth defects children born in Utah each year. In announcing the appointment, appoint-ment, Mr. O'Connor said, "We are fortunate in having Mr. Bernolfo's leadership abilities to direct his state's efforts against birth defects, which afflict af-flict one out of every ten American families." Mr. Bernolfo, upon his reappointment, reap-pointment, said, "We must all join to defeat this terrible crippling condition called birth defects, which represents over 1,000 different disease conditions. condi-tions. Birth defects seriously afflict af-flict over 1,600 children in Utah, and over 250,000 children in the United States each year. In addition to those children born alive with birth defects, we lose half a million unborn babies every year. The impact of this loss upon families is tremendous." Mr. Bernolfo, who is a graduate grad-uate of Northwestern University, Univer-sity, is a leader in many organizations organ-izations in the state of Utah. |
