Show Utah Valley Hospital appoints pathologist; building progresses Dr. Joseph A. Knight has been appointed the new pathologist pathol-ogist for the Utah Valley Hospital, Hos-pital, according to Administrator Administra-tor Grant C. Burgon. The appointment will enable Dr. Richard A. Call, who was recently advanced from hospital hospi-tal pathologist to the post of medical director of laboratories to assume his new duties. Dr. Knight will join the staff at the end of this year. He will be associated with Wilford H. LeCheminant, M.D., and Ronald Ron-ald B. Butler, M.D., present pathologists. Dr. Knight has been affiliated affiliat-ed with the University of Utah Medical Center and Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and a member of the American Ameri-can Medical Association. Provo native A native of Provo, Dr. Knight is the son of Mrs. Maud Knight Miner. He received his B.S. and M.A. degrees from BYU and his M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine. While attending BYU he worked as a laboratory technician at Utah Valley LDS Hospital. He is married to the former Pauline Brown, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Brown of Provo. They have two children. Mr. Burgon stated that the new laboratory now under construction con-struction will be completed within the next two months. Thousands of dollars of new automated equipment has been purchased to make this laboratory labor-atory one of the most complete and up to date in the state. In cases where speed is critical this automated equipment will make it possible to have results of tests in minutes, which may mean the difference in the outcome out-come of a patient's condition. Accuracy of test The accuracy of tests and the quantity of specialized services will be increased and will continue con-tinue to increase. In the near future it is anticipated that this new equipment will be tied into the computer program of the hospital. The new facility will employ 50 full time people, including technologists, technicians, secretaries, sec-retaries, etc. The laboratory also has a School of Medical Technology with seven students enrolled, which is under the direction of Dr. Wilford H. LeCheminant. |
