Show Mistakes hold up tax refunds Income tax refunds of many Utah taxpayers are being delayed de-layed because they have not used the right tax table or schedule to compute their tax, IRS reported today. Roland V. Wise, IRS District Director for Utah, said that the IRS Western region are processed, pro-cessed, reports that so far this year, 138,075 showed that the wrong tax table or schedule was used to calculate the tax due. Mr. Wise urged Utah taxpayers tax-payers to use the right table or schedule when they file returns. By making sure the right one is used a taxpayer can save the government money and avoid any delay in receiving a refund. There are tax tables on Form 1040 for married couples filing joint reutrns, single persons and married couples filing separate sep-arate returns and for unmarried unmar-ried persons who qualify as head of household. On the 1040A, there are tax tables for single persons, married mar-ried couples filing jointly and for married couples filing separate sep-arate returns. A major reason for delay is no Social Security number. |
