Show Letter to the editor Reader thanks firemen for volunteer aid I would like to pay public tribute to a small group of Springville men, the volunteer firemen. These men are ready and willing to drop anything at a second's notice from their evening eve-ning dinner to a business transaction. trans-action. They not only fight fires but save lives as was the case last Saturday. My very close friend and I were working in the gardens when he collasped. Within minutes, min-utes, the firemen were there and with speed and assurance took over. There was no doubt that they had taken their own time to be trained for just such an emergency. After making sure they could be of no more assistance to the doctor or ambulance am-bulance driver they very quietly quiet-ly left. In this case as I'm sure many others, we were too excited ex-cited and upset at the time to thank these men. Since thanks is the only pay they receive for all of their efforts, I would like to take this way of doing so. Leo Mortimore |
