Show Utah travel for April up oyer 44 percent, bureau reports Travel activity in Utah for April 1966 was up 44 from the same period for 1965. This was the report of the University Univer-sity of Utah Bureas of Economic Econ-omic Research in the monthly Traveler Index released today. Based on the increase, travel in Utah produced an additional $4,301,253 in revenues for Utah businesses for a total of $13, 935,240 for the month. In all, 422,280 visitors came to Utah in April and, based on the count, stayed about 2.2 days in the state. The index provides a cumulative cumula-tive total for the year at 1.16 nearly 30,000 for each of the last two months, and this is a very healthy sign that travel! in Utah is on the upswing," he said. The monthly index provides a monthly comparison of travel trav-el in Utah compared to the same month a year ago and is based one a count of out of state, noncommercial cars at some 13 exit points in the state. The national j average increase for the same period is about 8.99, according accord-ing to a report published by the National Association of Travel Organizations. Emanuel A. Fioor, Director of the Utah Travel Council, said the "report backs up the various visitor count reports we have had from a variety of Utah attractions for the same period.
