Show Public library notes growth since move Since moving into the new library in June of 1965 the circulation cir-culation of books has increased 6,597 over the same period in 1964-65 making a total circulation circu-lation of 29,909 according to a report by Victoria Larkin, librarian. li-brarian. Another interesting increase is the number of new borrowers borrow-ers during this period. A total of 1,233 have taken out books as compared to the previous year's 683 during the same period. Total patrons through June to April, 3,728. There have been 1229 books added compared to 496 in the same previous period. Librarians have done a re-cataloging re-cataloging and classifying of books and brought the book collection up to the American Library Association standards by the addition of books in needed areas. They are also organizing a picture and pamphlet file. A weekly story hour for young children has been instigated in-stigated with this week's hour featuring the second half of "Pinocchio" record plus stories beginning at 3:45 p.m. each Thursday. There have also been library programs for the community com-munity and for individual organizations or-ganizations presented. For the future, supervised summer reading programs for first through ninth grades with emphasis on fiction and non-fiction reading about foreign for-eign countries have been planned. plan-ned. It is also planned to build up a record collection for circulation cir-culation to adults and children. For those with impaired vision, it is planned to build up a col- lection of books with large type for easy seeing. New books added to the library li-brary include, "Papa Hemingway," Heming-way," by A. E. Hotchner and "A Dictionary of American Antiques" by Carl W. Drep-perd Drep-perd in the best seller department. |
