The orchestra conduc tor, Maurice Abravanel, will direct the 85 musicians of the Utah Symphony in a program which will include some of the finest symphonic works. Maestro Abravanel has been musical conductor of the Utah Symphony since he came to Salt Lake City in 1947. This is his 19th consecutive season in that capacity. It has been chiefly under his direction that the orchestra has risen in stature sta-ture until it has now taken its place among the major orchestras orches-tras of America. The Utah Symphony was recently re-cently listed among the top fifteen orchestras of America. Tickets by mail are available by sending a check or money order payable to the 19th Quorum of Seventy to P.O. Box 95, Spanish Fork. Include a self addressed return envelope. Possibly the best summation of the Utah Symphony's worth and stature was made by Martin Mar-tin Mayer, music critic of "Esquire "Es-quire Magazine" who wrote: "The Utah Symphony has made itself a major orchestra, far superior to the Orchestras of cities four or five times the size and wealth of Salt Lake. One wonders whether its audience, au-dience, who know their orchestra orches-tra as a more or less routine local fixture in the cultural scene, can appreciate how remarkable re-markable an achievement they hear on the nights when they 'go to the symphony."
