" - 1 I A - Election of the entire Citizen's Citi-zen's ticket climaxed a spirited election campaign here following follow-ing Tuesday's voting. The trend toward the Citizen candidates can-didates came early in the voting vo-ting and continued throughout the tabulation of each district. It was a complete reversal of that of two years ago when the entire Citizen's ticket lost to the People's Party candidates. Calvin Packard won the race for mayor, getting 60 more votes than the combined total of his two opponents, Murray Peay and Dr. Wilford G. Bies-inger. Bies-inger. Mr. Packard totaled 1357 votes to 304 for Dr. Bie-singer Bie-singer and 933 for Mr. Peay Mr. Peay, who is a city councilman coun-cilman at present, has two years of his four year term left. Retiring councilmen are Omar Hansein and Taylor Reynolds. Rey-nolds. Paul Haymond is the retiring re-tiring mayor. Council race Councilmen on the Citizens ticket were swept in with a near 3 to 1 ratio. Earl Child polled the highest vote with a total of 1945 votes. Leonard James came second with 1888 People's candidates, James Da-mico Da-mico polled 546 and C. O. Ward, 733. Bigger vote Springville citizens upped their voting average over that of two years ago when the presidential candidates were on the ticket. Total mayor vote cast in this year's election was 2654 as compared to 2002 for councilmen in the last election. elec-tion. Councilmen votes this year averaged 2556. The 652 extra votes in this year's election elec-tion indicated the keener voting vot-ing interest which may be attributed at-tributed in part, to three candidates candi-dates running for the mayor race. Mapleton results In the Mapleton election, incumbent in-cumbent Douglas Bills of the Progressive Party and the two councilmen running on his ticket tick-et were swept into office. Bills polled 301 votes to Stewart Whiting'sl49 for the Citizen's Party. Norman Graves, incumbent in-cumbent on the Progressive had 305 votes for high vote getter; Ray Whiting, Progressive, Progres-sive, got 254; Taylor Burt had 165; Paul Edmunds, 177 on the Citizen's.
