Show Little Leaguers rack up touchdowns CEDAR CITY - Last Thursday's Little League Junior Varsity Football action saw the Spirits overcoming the Trojans 12-fi. and the Cowbovs doing the same to the Chiefs with the same score. The Trojans scored first on a third-yard touchdown run by Mike Miller in the second quarter. The Spirits then cam back in the third quarter with a 32-yard interception return by cornerback Mike Barrick to tie up the score. In the fourth quarter the Spirits scored again on a 26-yard touchdown pass from Shawn Schexsnayder to Mike Barrick. In the second JV game on Thursday the Cowboys scored first in the second quarter on a two-yard quarterback sneak by Kyle Lambeth. They then lengthened their lead in the third quarter when running back Grant Slack carried the ball in from two yards out. The Chiefs threatened late in the game on a one-yard end sweep by Cody Bulloch for the Chiefs only score. Saturday's action featured the Varsity (or big teams), and the results were reversed in both games. The Trojans romped over the Spirits 26-6, while the Chiefs defeated the Cowboys 20-fi. 20-fi. The Chiefs jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter when Bret Irons made a 32-yard touchdown run, the extra point and a 24-yard touchdown touch-down run. Clay Tom made the second extra point. In the second quarter Tom made a 15-yard touchdown run to give the Chiefs their 20 points. |
