The first female finisher in the road run was nine-year-old Anne Johnson. The youngster was clocked in a time of 38:41. Luke Johnson was the youngest finisher of the five-mile run. The young runner, age six, ran a time of 48 :56. In the two-mile event, 11-year-old Richard Huntsman ran a time of 12:24 to make him the fastest finisher. Dan Dix followed in 12:36. Trailing Dix were Curt Anderson in 12:48, Jeffrey Dix, Jeanine Wilcox and Robert Pearson. All participants in both runs were awarded T-shirts T-shirts and certificates for their efforts. " J r , 111 i mi - CEDAR CITY A contingent of 48 runners participated in the five-mile five-mile Record Road Run and two-mile Run For Fun, sponsored by the Iron County Record on Memorial Day. This was the second year of the annual road run, and the event attracted at-tracted 26 runners. The two-mile event was conducted this year for the first time, and 22 enthusiasts including many young runners zipped around the shorter course. Monday's five-mile run was won by Cedar High School and Southern Utah State College alumnus Keenan Hart. Hart cooked the course in a very fast time of 25 minutes, 49 seconds. Hart was followed by Cedar High runner David Dix. ' Dix recorded a time of 27:25. Trailing Dix were Blair Bentley, Tom Dalton and John Pragle. "We were very pleased with the turnout," exclaimed ex-claimed Mike Stansfield, Iron County Record publisher. "We had nearly double the number of runners that we had last year, and we're looking forward to continuing with this tradition." Stansfield has been with the Record for nearly two years, and he said he hopes to continue the long-standing tradition of the paper in being involved in and supporting community activities. The paper recently hosted the course in a speedy 25:49 to finish first overall. There were 48 runners involved in the road run and the two-mile Run For Fun.
