Show Virginia Dusenbury, chairwoman of the Cedar City art Committee, examines Carmen Slater's textile, "The Dusk Dancer." The piece is included in the committee's 40th annual exhibition, a juried show of fiber works by western artists. Art prizes granted A total of $1,000 in purchase monies and prizes was awarded last week by Janusz Kozikowski, exhibit juror of "Fiber Arts '81". The exhibition is the Cedar City Art Committee's Com-mittee's 40th annual show, and is being shown at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery on the Southern Utah State College Campus. Selected for a $500 purchase award was Annie Dempsey's (Medford, Oregon) crocheted "Indian Elephant." The piece will n now be part of Cedar City's permanent art collection. The first place award of $250 was given to Barbara Bar-bara Ann Lashley (Berkeley, Calif.) for her tapestry titled "Coexistence." "Co-existence." The second place award of $150 was given to Patricia Spark (Albany, Ore.) for her handmade felt piece titled "Afganistan, Vanishing Traditions." Erika Torri (Leucadia, Calif.) received the third place award of $100 for her tapestry piece titled "Summer Thun-derstorm." Thun-derstorm." Honorable Mentions were given to Karen Van Derpool (Seattle, Wash.) for "Life System II: Separation of the 24th Year" and Connie McEntire Lehman (Elizabeth, Colo.) for "If I say Do, Will the Moon." The exhibition continues con-tinues at the gallery through Apr. 29. . It is being shown in conjunction con-junction with a one man show of Utah water-colorist water-colorist Ron Rencher's recent work. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 7 to 9 p.m. weekdays week-days and 1 to 6 p.m. on weekends. Organizations are r requested to schedule their group |
