Show JV continues streak By LYNETTE SAWYER Record Reporter Cedar High School junior varsity baseball squad hosted the Beaver High School team here in Cedar Monday, and the phenomenal underclassmen un-derclassmen were once again victorious as they deveated the Beavers by a 13-10 score. The Redmen hero this week was Sophomore K. C. Jones. The young Redmen team was down by two in the final inning of the game. Morgan Evans led off the inning with a single. Before Beaver was able to get even one out, Cedar had loaded the bases. The Beaver pitcher then served up a base-on-balls to the Redmen batter and Evans crossed the plate to pull within one. Troy Nielson then scored from third base on a passed ball and the score was all tied up at 10. K. C. Jones then stepped to the plate, and the versatile young, athlete belted out a three- run homer to win the game for CHS. Picking up the win for Cedar was freshman hurler Robert Pearson who came on in the fifth inning when the Reds were down by two to pitch the final two innings of the six-iming game. Richard Miller had started on the mound for the Redmen. The young Redmen team under Coach Benny O'Niell is undefeated thus far in the season. |
