Show Social Critic opens Series Since Packard's first book, "The Hindden Persuaders," appeared in 1957, he has been established as an important and- perceptive social critic. His most current picture of the future is his highly successfull "The People Shapers" which has been singled out as an important in-depth study of the revolutionary developments develop-ments in psychology and behavnal patterns today. Social critic Vance Packard will discuss "Human Values - A Look at the Future" tonight, Thursday, at Southern Utah State College. The internationally recognized author and social scientist will initiate the Grace Adams Tanner Lecture Series which is being funded at SUSC by Utah philanthropist Obert C. Tanner. The lecture begins at 8 p.m. in the Thorley Recital Hall and the public is invited to attend free of charge. "In Packard's eight major books, there is hardly an issue affecting society to which he hasn't directed astute attention," says Eugene T. Woolf, lecture series chairman. "We're very pleased that Mr. Packard will begin the lecture series and we invite the public to attend what will be a very thought provoking program." |
