Show Just Between You And Me Well, this week while Carol and Darryl were slaving slav-ing away to get the COUNTY NEWS out, the ol' Redhead has been lazing around in St. Mark's beautiful new hospital, being waited on hand a foot. Most folks dread going to the hospital, but the ol' Redhead Red-head has found it almost a vacation in past experiences, and expect this to be the same, though this is being written before entering, so we might have changed our mind by the time you read it. - 0 -However, after the initial few days, we've always had luxurious treatment, excellent excel-lent food, and plenty of bed rest. Now that may not sound very stimulating to those who make at least an annual trek to the ocean shores, or to mountain retreats, but the prospect of nine days of doing nothing but press the buzzer when I want a fresh The tentacles of too much government at all levels, but especially eminating from Washington D.C., have cut deeply into all facets of our lives. And though there seems to be a grass root movement to return power to the people, it may take several years, and lots of convincing before be-fore their is significant change. - 0 - Still, the constitution, though eroded, is intact, and American ingenuity and determination de-termination has licked all obstacles in the past, and can do so again if the free enterprise system is given the opportunity to work. We are confident in the future, but the immediate future is in doubt. It will take a determined effort on the part of all of us to overcome over-come the excesses of the past forty years which have brought us to the brink. - 0 - glass of water, seems almost al-most as luxurious to us as an around the world cruise. Especially since the ol' Redhead Red-head has only managed four days off at a time - once -since 1975. 0 -Of course, if you enjoy your work, as the ol' Redhead Red-head does, then you really don't mind keeping the nose to the grindstone. Especially Especial-ly if you're feeling fit. And doc promises that the ol' Redhead should be good as new in a few weeks. Of course, we don't expect ex-pect the grey hair to return to its natural color, nor do we expect to have all the spring put back in our step. We'll be completely happy to just be able to awake in the morning looking forward to another day, a day without with-out pain, pills and pessimism. pes-simism. 0 Pessimism will be the most difficult to cure. The future looks bleak for the old USA, with the dollar taking a beating abroad, and stretching thin at home. |
