Show T Poe& Comet 7 double StanAald dialogue Across our Nation's county seats, no matter where they be, Walk Into your courthouse, and there for all to see, it By stairways or the offices up and down the halls, Y Hung In stately dignity, In frames along the walls, Printed In olde English, or script of modern day, The Ethics of our judges and attorneys, so they say. They read with deep objectives, lofty doctrines pure and high. They ring with honor and Ideals, that justice should live by. They state no personalities, will cloud unpopular issues. Their substance Is integrity, now crumpled like old tissues. They've been reduced to fairy-tales, just like Commandments, Ten, They're standards now of yesterday, in long-gone days back then. Take a moment when you read them, the day you go inside Those hallowed halls of justice. Seek the words and feel the pride. Possibly, there's stiU a lawyer or a scattered judge or two, Who practice by these ethics? And to those who number few, These words are dedicated: Our hopes live in your creed, It's sadly true that you're the last of an endangered breed. Now, most folks frown and grimace when others interfere, They hate persistant know-It -alls a'breathlng in their ear. But if, by chance, the principles of law can stay untainted, By double -standard ethics that have been so brightly painted, Then maybe there's the smallest chance the rot that's showing bare, Will join the tarnished halos, now suspended In the air?
