Show Gommicoion cppoinfc county fair board The Beaver County Commission Com-mission last Thursday appointed ap-pointed nine new members to the Beaver County Fair Board to replace those who have moved or become inactive. in-active. Three were re -appointed, along with the County E xtenslon personnel, who are ex-officlo members. Stan Roberts occupied the chair lntheabsenceofChair-man lntheabsenceofChair-man Pryor. Those reappointed were Elizabeth Yardley, PatRlm-pau PatRlm-pau and Red Wilson, Vice President. Newmembers included in-cluded several who have been active with the fair since its beginning two years ago. Keith Lemon, President; Carol Lemon, Sec-Treas.; Rowland Yardley, Les Bogh, Bill Wood, Frieda Wood, Connie Chris Marshall, Ar-lene Ar-lene Malchus and Commissioner Commis-sioner Howard Pryor. Wilson told the Commissioners Commis-sioners of the plan to offer organizations in the county $1,000 to set up the State Fair booth. To get the $1,000 they must submit a drawing of the booth design and theme to the county fair to be judged. The winner gets the $1,000 and after expenses, keeps the remainder. An opportunity for local organizations to pick up some spare change, and the county gets good advertising. ad-vertising. They authorized a letter to M ilford and Mlnersville, requesting re-questing nominations to Fire District 2 advisory board. The board will be set up at the next meeting. Clair Lee and Amy Konlng met with the Board requesting request-ing the County pay $336 to Creative Marketing Advertising Adver-tising Agency for ski pro-m pro-m otlon. Mt. Holly had contracted con-tracted for the advertising in a 50-50 deal with other promoters. However, with the poor snow, they are pressed to pay bills. Lee, as a member of the County Ad vertising Committee recom-m recom-m ended the county help Mt. Holly out. They did. They agreed to adopt the Beaver City business license ordinance, with an amended fee schedule, compromise between Milford and Beaver fees. This ordinance would require businesses located outside incorporated limits to purchase a business license, li-cense, as well as those out of county businesses contracting con-tracting work in the county. They agreed to purchase a 16mm projector for the Sheriff's department at approximately ap-proximately $433.00. They toured the jail, looking over problem areas. Several repairs re-pairs were authorized. It was moved to support the Railroad Credit Union in its effort to extend services to the Milford Post Office area. Linley Jefferson met with the Board to discuss the Women, Infant and Children P rogram. It was tabled until next meeting when more information in-formation is available. They authorized purchase of child's blood pressure cuff. Jade Le Blanc met with the Board about participation in the IndigentMedicalAidPro-gram. IndigentMedicalAidPro-gram. It would cost the county a quarter mill taxes. They said 'no'! They also discussed the new juvenile detention bill. The county has an agreement agree-ment with Iron County to house juveniles, so are not affected by the bill. |
