Show CoQUcr . rcllys for 17-16 uin By Terry Lemon The Beaver High School . baseball players have only salvaged one win out of three league encounters but the extra -inning, 17-16 victory, for the Beavers over Kanab last week was a thriller for the eyewitness fans. Kanab knocked the cover off the ball the first six innings in-nings and established a 11-1 cushion. Then the Beaver sockers went to work racking rack-ing up 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score, 11- 11. It was anybody's game from then on with both teams threatening. Finally the 11th inning rolled around and it was nearly sundown. The game started at 3:00 p.m. and the clock registered 6:45 with two men down and the score tied, 16-16. From Mike Smith's sacrifice, Bruce Carter rammed a single through the shortstop to score the winning run. Later in the week Beaver traveled to heavily favored Gunnison meeting a strong force of hitters and falling", 12- 1. |
