History and the preservation of same is exciting for people peo-ple of all ages who get involved. in-volved. It's difficult for many young people today there are few frontiers to explore. But the Milford Historical Society opens new frontiers each month at their meeting as members relate stories of the past. There's a place for you and you're free to Involve yourself in whatever what-ever facet of history you're interested in or if you Choose all of them . ' Want to get involved with an organization that's going some place? The Milford Historical Society So-ciety is a young organization organiza-tion that cares about the good old days. Begun in 1974, they set out to preserve pre-serve local history of Milford Mil-ford and Beaver County. Their number one project has been the Milford Historical His-torical Park, but they took a lead in the bicentennial activities, and contributed $1,000 from their own treasury, trea-sury, and then took the lead in raising the $4,100 matching match-ing funds fortheDominguez-Escalante fortheDominguez-Escalante marker. Thursday, April 21st, is their annual meeting. Every one is invited at 7:30 p.m. in the Milford Elementary School. Four spots on the Board of Directors are up for election from the total membership. If you're not a member, come anyway, your dues will be accepted at the door. Or, you're welcome to visit and look the group over before joining. Enoch Swain has been elected to lead the group for 1977, with Red Wilson, vice president, and Janet Walker, Sec-Treas. On -going projects are the , Historical Park, expected to be completed in the initial phase this year. The group will continue to take oral histories, recording the personal per-sonal histories of oldtimers from the area. Preservation of artifacts, mining, farming, and railroad rail-road history, always working work-ing toward a museum to house the many items already al-ready collected. As fund-raising projects, they're contemplating a swap meet, sale of the centennial centen-nial book, "Milford's First 100 Years", centennial dollars, dol-lars, and others. They meet once a month and after a short business meeting talk over old times and show items of mutual Interest. The only qualification qualifica-tion you need to join them is your interest. |
